APC Leader, Barr. Abah, Cautions UNN Vice Chancellor: “Don’t Allow Yourself to Be Used Against Minister Uche Nnaji”
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Leader in Udenu Local Government Area, Barrister Abah, has openly criticized the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), over what he described as the institution’s politically motivated involvement in the ongoing controversy surrounding the academic certificate of the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji.
Barr. Abah, in a strongly worded statement released to journalists, expressed deep concern that a revered academic institution like UNN could allow itself to be dragged into what he termed a “calculated political witch-hunt” against one of its distinguished alumni. He cautioned the Vice Chancellor to remain apolitical and avoid being used by political actors whose intention is to tarnish the image and credibility of the Minister.
According to him, Chief Uche Nnaji’s contributions to national development both in public service and private enterprise stand as an evidence to his integrity and intellect, and any attempt to question his educational background is a direct insult to truth and merit.
Barr. Abah further warned that the university’s leadership must uphold its long standing reputation for fairness, objectivity, and academic excellence, rather than succumbing to external pressures or political influence.
“The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, is an institution built on the foundation of truth and knowledge. It must not become a tool in the hands of desperate politicians. The Vice Chancellor should be guided by conscience, not convenience,” Abah stated.
He urged all parties to allow the rule of law and due process to prevail, emphasizing that media trials and partisan manipulation only serve to damage the integrity of respected institutions.
Barr. Abah reaffirmed his confidence in Chief Uche Nnaji’s academic record and called on the public to remain calm, as the truth, in his words, “will always defend itself.”
