APC Leader, Barr. Emeka Abah, Condemns Enugu Bye-Election For State House Of Assembly, Accuses State Government of Manipulation
Barr. Abah, in a statement issued today, faulted the Enugu State Government for what he termed “a total lack of transparency and orchestrated sabotage to frustrate a credible electoral process.” According to him, several polling units were either deliberately delayed or completely obstructed from conducting elections, denying the people of that Constituency their constitutional right to freely choose their representative.
He further condemned what he called the “disgraceful and uncivilized behavior” meted out to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, who was reportedly harassed by agents loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) when he visited one of the voting centers. Barr. Abah described the incident as “a national embarrassment and a calculated insult, not just on the Minister, but on the Federal Government he represents.”
The APC leader noted that democracy thrives only when the will of the people is respected and protected. He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to investigate the widespread irregularities and called on security agencies to ensure that such acts of intimidation, electoral malpractice, and disrespect to leaders never repeat themselves in future elections.
“Enugu State cannot continue to build democracy on the foundations of intimidation, manipulation, and disrespect for due process. What happened in Enugu South yesterday was not an election but a carefully orchestrated scheme to undermine the people’s voice,” Barr. Abah stated.
He, however, reassured APC supporters across the state to remain steadfast, insisting that the party will continue to stand for fairness, justice, and genuine democracy.
