In a landmark moment for Aguibeje/Iyionu Autonomous Community, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, a new set of Town Union Executives has been duly elected to steer the affairs of the community. The election, Keenly observed by the Hon. Commissioner Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Chieftaincy affairs represented by the Director of Town Union Mrs. Queendaline Odike ( Director, Town Union ) Mrs. Ogochukwu Ozoagu- ( Director, Chieftaincy Affairs ) Barr. Esther Ani- ( Legal officer ) Barr. Gabriel Ogbe ( Legal Officer ) Chukwunwike Ogechukwu - ( Desk Officer ) and Amaechi Faustina ( PRO) was conducted in an atmosphere of peace, unity, and overwhelming consensus.
At the heart of the outcome was the unanimous emergence of Comrade Okechukwu Christopher Nnabuike, who was returned unopposed as President General a clear evidence to the confidence, trust, and acceptance he enjoys among his people. Interestingly, other key executive positions also saw candidates emerge unopposed , They are Ossai Chibueze Davidson ( Vice Chairman) Ossai Christopher Okafor (Secretary General) Christopher Uroko Eze ( Assistant Secretary General ) Odo Joseph Obinna (Treasurer ) Abugu Silas Emenike ( Financial Secretary ) Evang. onuh Godwin ( Publicity Secretary ) Sochima Urama ( Organising Secretary ) Udeh Chimezie Sunday (Auditor) Ossai Chimezie Godwin ( Legal Adviser) Ifeoma Hyacinth Agbaji ( Protocol Officer) Omeke Ezenweke ( Magnus Protocol Officer) reflecting a rare spirit of harmony and collective agreement within the community.
The electoral process was ably coordinated under the leadership of Chief Dr. Ameh Kelechi, who served as both the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Town Union and the Chairman of the Electoral Committee. Chief Ameh’s dedication and transparency in overseeing the transition earned him widespread commendation, as his steady stewardship laid the foundation for a smooth and credible exercise.
Beyond his administrative role, Chief Dr. Ameh Kelechi Wilfred i has over the years demonstrated unmatched commitment to the growth and security of Aguibeje/Iyionu. He personally donated a Sienna vehicle to the community’s Vigilante Group and has continued to provide regular financial support for their operations ensuring the safety of lives and property within the community. In addition, he is currently embarking on a legacy project of constructing 10 units of open shops, which will soon be handed over to men and women of the community as a platform to enhance commerce, empower families, and stimulate grassroots development.
The peaceful conduct of the election and the unity displayed stand as a shining example of community-driven democracy in Enugu State. With Comrade Okechukwu Christopher Nnabuike and his team set to assume leadership, expectations are high that the new executives will consolidate on the gains of past administrations and drive Aguibeje/Iyionu Autonomous Community towards greater progress and inclusiveness..
