One of the biggest challenges confronting governance at grassroots is the broken public trust as those elected by the people promise so much and do little or nothing at all .
Normally in the build up to local government elections, candidates often say things they know they may not achieve if elected.But these promises are made just to convince the electorates that they have much to offer.
This development has eroded public trust and made voters perceive some contestants as pretenders rather than prepared achievers
Despite this ugly development, there are leaders who have distinguished themselves especially at grassroots for walking the talk.And for such compassionate leaders, we must find courage to single them out and appreciate them.
Engr. Jude Asogwa Chinedu-KSJI , a proven grassroots mobiliser, accomplished entrepreneur and a selfless, visionary leader has proved to be a shinning example of that leader who is walking the talk .To him, public trust can be rebuilt via uncommon commitments to delivering democratic dividends to the people.
The city mayor has remained committed to the mandate he has been entrusted with by the good people of Nsukka by executing countless legacy projects in Nsukka since he became the Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area .
He has a long of accomplishments to his name in less than one year in office.From water provisions to communities to rural electrifications and road reconstructions.And other projects are not left out too.In fact, every sector has been revamped under his watch and Nsukka is on a march towards holistic, socio-economic developments.
The icing on the cake in all the good works the mayor is doing for his people is that his administration ensures participation of relevant stakeholders in governance.The mayor gives relevant stakeholders like traditional rulers, President Generals of communities and other political bigwigs the opportunity to help his administration in identifying pressing needs of the people and addressing them immediately.
His administration abhors relegating a given community to the background but rather carries everyone along in governance.That is why he has promised to execute at least one project for all the communities in Nsukka council area.
Engr Asogwa is a leader who has sufficient understanding in the theory that governance must be built on long-term success not on short-term advantage.He has distinguished himself as a principled public servant and an agent of positive change who is ready to put his life in the line of duty to get it right for his people.God bless the city mayor.
