Uzo-Uwani Group hails Peter Ndubuisi Mbah , Chijioke Ezugwu  over improved security in the area

Uzo-Uwani youths, under the aegis of  Uzo-Uwani Youth Advocate for Good Governance, have commended the Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah and the Council Chairman of the LGA, Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu, for the recent security improvement in the area.

This was contained in a statement by the group’s President General, Chief  Nweze Ambrose, on Sunday.

The statement noted that recently, the council started witnessing the influx of different security operatives, comprising of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police operatives, and the men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps.

It expressed optimism that with the current security beef-up in Uzo-Uwani, criminality was going to cease and the people would fully engage in their normal economic activities.

The group had earlier on 20th April called on the state and federal government to intervene in  the insecurity challenges that recently relapsed in Uzo-Uwani leading to some kidnapping and kidnapping incidents and also demanding for the empowerment of the local vigilantes to help in fighting the insecurity menace.

“We commend the effort of the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and his team of security experts for the relative peaceful atmosphere the people of Uzo-Uwani are enjoying again. At the time of issuing this release, we noted the presence of heavy security personnel in different shades and colours on our roads, in communities, and some bushes in our council. This has greatly allayed the fears of our people.

"We appeal to the governor to keep it up with this tempo and ensure that the criminals elements, in whatever form are routed out of Uzo Uwani.

"We equally extol the Council Chairman Barr. Ezugwu, who has not rested on his oars to ensure that peace reigns in Uzo-Uwani, which is vastly known as the food basket of the state.  His efforts in recently constituting and empowering of over 320  Neighborhood Watch personnel  to strengthen security in the LGA is a major step in the right direction,” the group stated.

It added that the  rescue of the kidnap victims along Opanda-Adani Road showed the capacity and resilience of the state security, demanding that all the suspected kidnappers, which were recently caught should be made to face the full wrath of the law.

"We have witnessed, firsthand, the nabbing of many suspected kidnappers by these security deployed in our area, and wish to appeal that the state governor and the Nigerian security agency should ensure that justice is well served.

“We further call on all those sabotaging the effort of the state and local government in fighting insecurity in Uzo-Uwani to refrain from such act of sabotage as karma will soon catch up with them," the statement further read.
