Rt. Hon. Barr. Sunday Cyriacus Umeha commissierates with victims of Ugwu Onyeama Tanker Explosion in Enugu State. 

I received with sadness the news of a tanker explosion that rocked the popular Ugwu Onyeama axis, in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, leading to the loss of 15 lives and several others injured. 

This incident is really worrying as the Nation was just recovering from a similar occurrence in Jigawa and Niger States in the last two months. 

The recurrent episodes of tanker explosion along our high ways raise serious questions around the quality of our road infrastructure; respect for road traffic rules and regulations; and commitment of road users to ensuring the roadworthiness of their vehicles. These are issues that Government, both at the State and Federal levels must address to make our roads safer through relevant government agencies. 

My heart goes out to the families who are devastated by the loss of their loved ones by this unfortunate incident. I also sympathize with the government and people of Enugu State on this sad incident even as I must commend the Governor,  Mr. Peter Mbah for volunteering to foot the medical bills and rehabilitation of those  who survived the inferno. 


It is my prayer that the Good Lord will grant quick healing to the injured and eternal rest to the dead whilst granting us all the fortitude to bear the tragic loss.
