The Executive Governor of Enugu state, Barr.Dr.Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, yesterday during a Town Hall Meeting commended the Chairman of Uzo-uwani LGA for aligning his Administrative blueprint with the State. The Governor who was ably represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof.Chidiebere Onyia, lauded the Chairman for his blueprint christened "Audacity of Vision", saying it is in line with the State programmes. The Governor also underscored the importance of the Town Hall meeting and also thanked everyone for coming.
According to him,"This historic Town Hall Meeting marks a significant step towards engaging the people, educating them about the government's programmes and activities". I'm here today on the Governor's directive, to meet with the good people of Uzo-uwani which include the Stakeholders,traditional rulers, the presidents-General, councilors, parents, community opinion leaders etc. The Governor appreciates Uzo-uwani people. Uzo-uwani is an integral part of this government.The election of Hon.Barr.Chijioke Ezugwu and Lady Mrs Vera Ezeugwu was not a mistake, it is a perfect match for the good people of Uzo-uwani.
The Governor however, recalled the significant role the Chairman and his Vice played during their training. It showed they are prepared to take Uzo-uwani to the next level.
"We are here today to meet physically, interact and educate you on the need to protect, preserve and take responsibility in safeguarding government's projects especially "the Green Smart schools" and "the type 2 hospitals" that is being built across the 260 wards in Enugu state". Be in the know that this project is yours. You have right to supervise it. These projects are for the common good of the people. Therefore, it is your duty to protect,and also sustain it. Any project built by Government should be protected. Our leaders should take charge and that is why we have directed all the LG Chairmen, and the councilors to ensure adequate monitoring of these projects in different wards. The PGs and the traditional rulers are also important and they have right to always check the level of work and quality of materials use at construction sites. They have right to report anything that is not in line with what is agreed with the contractor. The presidents-General and the traditional ruler should work as one. The traditional rulers should be respected and consulted. Both should work for overall interest and development of their community. They are representing the Governor in our communities. They are our eyes. There shall be team work and collaboration in order to achieve a common purpose.
Speaking during the meeting,the council Chairman, Hon.Barr Ezugwu welcomed the Governor represented by the Secretary to the State Government, and other members of his team. In his welcome remarks, he thanked the Governor,H.E. Dr.Peter Mbah for his good works in Enugu state. He listed numerous achievements of the Governor, saying that the Governor is a blessing to Enugu state. He further stated that his administration will continue to support the Governor to continue his his good works, assuring that Governor's Administrative style will be modeled at the local Government. He also listed some of his achievements within one month in office with emphasis on security. He stated that his administration has commenced the clearing and grading of both sides of the roads to Ezikolo, Nrobo,Abbi-Nimbo Roads, Obimo- Nkpologu, Nkpunato Ukpabi-Opanda-
,Adani,Ogurugu road and, Uvuru, Ukpata, Adaba, Umulokpa roads. The Chairman assured of making sure that projects are completed within the specified duration, adding that the roads are strategic hence it will help to end insecurity in the zone.
"We have also engaged the Fulani community in a strategic meeting to ensure that farmers can freely go back to their farms without encumbrances from the herders." They have agreed to be law-abiding and agreed to promote peace and security in the region. We are also going to overhaul our neighborhood unit and its exercise has been scheduled Tuesday next week.
The Chairman also appealed for more infrastructure,Agro industrialization and tertiary Institution , saying that it will help to develop the local Government.
In their separate speeches, Dr.Godwin C.Anigbo mni, permanent secretary, Ministry of Labour and productive, Hon.Dr.Mathew Idu, Former Commissioner of Agric, Hon.Dr.Barth Nwankwo, former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, and HRH Igwe SJ Idu, Traditional ruler of Nkpologu Ancient Kingdom,all poured encomiums on Gov.Mbah for his numerous projects in the State including the 80,000 minimum wage.They appreciated the Governor for the town Hall meeting, saying that,it is always gratifying for the people to hear from their leaders. Thanking Prof.Onyia who represented the Governor for explaining the reasons for certain changes and taxes in the government. They pledged their continued support to the Governor.
The meeting ended with a vote of thanks from the immediate past Chairman, Hon.Chukwudi Nnadozie who also thanked the Governor for attracting Naval base and other projects to Uzo-uwani.

PDP party Chairman, Hon.Prince Kingsley Ani, Hon.Jude Okonkwo, former party Chairman, PDP woman leader, Hon.Mrs Njideka Okonkwo,HRH Igwe Dr. Herbert N.Ukuta(JP), 3rd deputy Chairman, Enugu State Traditional rulers Council, Chief Sir Vitalis Okonkwo,Hon
Prince Emeka Oroko, former SLG, Hon.Richard Egwuma, Dr.George Ajogwu, Hon.Simon Okechukwu KSJ,Barr Dr.M.C Nwande, Chief Raphael Eze, Chief Innocent Enejere, Hon.Cosmas Blessed.Hon.Philip Okeke, former leader, Hon.Philip Okpe, ward Coordinating Chairman.
Others include, Hon.Felix Ozota Nwabueze, Hon.Benjamin Odimkpa, Hon.Chika Aluma, Hon.Christian Nwabueze, Hon.Christopher Nwajiani among other stakeholders.
Thereafter, the Chairman inaugurated the 16 ward councilors at the council chamber. Principal officers emerged as Hon.Christian Nwabueze from Ogurugu ward was elected leader.
Consequently, the Chairman and his team moved to pay a condolences visit to Hon.Amechi Ezike at Ugbene-Ajima.
The Chairman expressed sadness over the death of their mother, saying that death of mothers are too painful. He prayed God to accept Mama's soul and give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
