Meletus Ona aka State, Udenu Local Government PDP Chairman elect is a solid, enterprising and workaholic politician who warmed his way into the thinking and calculation of many leaders of the party way back and was at the verge of emerging the PDP Local Government Chairmanship candidate in 2013 local Government election when some power brokers settled for Barr Amaechi Nwodo to succeed Dr. Godwin Abonyi.

"State" kept fate with the party despite that disappointment and was later elected as a Member of the State Executive Committee of PDP. It was from there that the Moniker, State became attached to him. 

A gentle but resolute and dogged politician, he is battle tested and has all it takes to steer PDP Udenu local government chapter to enviable height.

He is loved and liked. No wonder his emergence as the New Party Chairman was celebrated by all the Party's leadership, members and stakeholders. 

Reacting to his emergence, the outgoing Chairman of the Party, Chief Cosmas Agbo described him as "a man with tested and trusted capacity to uphold the party's leading position in the council area, build cohesion and lead the party to victory in the forthcoming Enugu State Local Government Council Elections". 

In his own words, Hon Ifeanyi Emmanuel Ogbonna, Akila, described Hon Meletus as a "man we all can trust, rely on and support to lead the party to greater heights", stating that "he dependable, sincere, open minded and friendly", with deep knowledge of Udenu Political terrains. 

Indeed "State" is eminently qualified and trusted to lead the party to the satisfaction of all, reconcile every shade of misunderstanding among party members and build a resilient, harmonious and virile party".

Enugu Community in crisis as Ministry of Local government Rural Development and chieftaincy Affairs issued certificates of Return/Recognition to Candidates without Elections. Nkpunato-Nkpologu Autonomous Community  in Uzo-uwani LGA is in crisis and in complete dilemma as the Ministry of Local government Rural Development and chieftaincy Affairs headed by Hon Deacon Okey Ogbodo arbitrarily recognized  Candidates without Elections.  News media agency confirmed this ugly incident on Monday through the outgoing President General, Chief Barr A.A Onyeji.
