CATCHY  PROFILE OF BARR. CHUKWUNONSO DANIEL OGBE (BARR. C. D. OGBE).

ACTION ALLIANCE (AA) GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE ENUGU STATE.

Born into the family of Mr. Francis Onam and Mrs. Caroline Chinyere Ogbe of Umu Ona Edenta family, Umu Nnajingene Kindred of the present day Amechi Uwani Awkunanaw Community of Enugu South Local Government Council of Enugu State of Nigeria, on the 16th day of August 1985 at the Mother of Christ Specialist Hospital Enugu. 

Barr. C. D. Ogbe attended the following academic institutions, to wit: St Vincent De Paul Nursery and Primary Schools, Idaw River Layout, Enugu; College of Immaculate Conception (C.I.C) Enugu (for his junior secondary education); Federal Government College Enugu (1999 to 2001); University of Nigeria, where he earned his Bachelor of Laws degree (2002 to 2008); the Nigerian Law School Abuja (2008 to 2009) where he earned his BL. Degree; and University of Delhi, India (2011 to 2013), where he earned his Master of Comparative Laws degree. Barr. C. D. Ogbe holds a diploma in United Nations and International Understanding Studies from the Institute of United Nations Studies, Hauz Kahz India. Barr. C. D. Ogbe had his mandatory one year National Youth Service programme in Ijebu-Ode Ogun State Nigeria, serving as a Pupil State Counsel upon being posted to serve in the Ministry of Justice, Ijebu-Ode Ogun State in November 2009 immediately after he was called to the Nigerian Bar on the 3rd day of November 2009. 

Barr. C. D. Ogbe set up his private law firm in Enugu, being the law firm of Chukwunonso Daniel Ogbe & Co. (Victoria Acerta Chambers) in the year 2014, upon his return to Nigeria from India in the late 2013.Barr. C. D. Ogbe was actively involved in campus politics and occupied several leadership positions during his days as an undergraduate law student of the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus. He was elected the Secretary, University of Nigeria Law Students Association Electoral Committee in 2006; President, National Association of Nkanu Students University of Nigeria Enugu Campus (UNEC) in 2007; and Chairman, University of Nigeria Law Students Association Electoral Committee in 2008. Barr. C. D. Ogbe, in the course of occupying leadership positions in UNEC, was known to be a charismatic leader, gifted in the art of making moribund organizations lively. Under his watch, National Association of Nkanu Students UNEC Chapter, became the most vibrant, and virile Town Union in UNEC. 

Barr. C. D. Ogbe C. D. is an essayist of international repute. He emerged victorious in the following essay contests, to wit: 1st prize winner (Corruption Category) of the 2011 Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), United Sates of America International Essay Contest, being an essay contest organized by an affiliate of the United States Chamber of Commerce; One among the 25 winners from Africa in the 2011/2012 Indiafrica Business Venture Contest, sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs Government of India, and IdeaWorks Design & Strategy Pvt. Ltd India; Consolation Prize Winner of the 2013 Essay Contest organized by the National Orientation Agency of Nigeria; Winner, Skye Bank Plc Campus Plus 2013 Essay Contest organized by the defunct Skye Bank Plc in the year 2013; Winner, Thank God It’s Centenary Essay Contest 2013, organized by the Nigerian Government in 2013 as part of the centenary celebration of Nigeria; and Honourable Mention, 2014 Youth Essay Competition organized by Node Africa. Barr. C. D. Ogbe’s essay was shortlisted as one of the finalist essays in the 2013 NUHA Foundation Essay Competition organized by NUHA, a United Kingdom based charity. 

The entry submitted by Barr. C. D. Ogbe in the 2018 John Ralph Essay Competition of Australia on agriculture was selected as one of the five outstanding essays and has been published in the Farm Policy Journal of the Australian Farm Institute.Barr. C. D. Ogbe, a renowned author also has the following published books to his credit, to wit: Dilemma of Nigerian Youths; The Pensmith: A Compendium of Lucid Essays; Enforcement of Fundamental Rights in Nigerian Courts; Comparative Enforcement of Fundamental Rights in Nigeria and India; Contentious Issues Bordering on the Use of the Seal and Stamp of the Nigerian Bar Association; A Compendium of Novel Judgments by Nigerian Courts; Wild Animals Law in Nigeria, India and Kenya; Judicial Review: A Procedural Guide; and Law of Sexual Intercourse in Nigeria. 

Barr. C. D. Ogbe has embarked on activist-inclined line of action for the betterment of the life of the vulnerable and downtrodden members of the Nigerian society, especially in Enugu State. 

He initiated an action at the Federal High Court in 2014 to compel the Nigerian Government to respect the provision of the African Youth Charter for the political empowerment of Nigerian youth. That action was the underlying factor that inspired the Not Too Young To Run Movement which consequently gave rise to the reduction in the age for Nigerian youth to stand for some political offices in Nigeria. Barr. C. D. Ogbe challenged the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) in Court in early 2020 when the EEDC made moves to phase out the use of standalone prepaid meters in Enugu State and other South-East geopolitical zone States. His action made EEDC to do away with that proposed controversial policy. 

Barr. C. D. Ogbe is married to Adaobi Peace Chidera Ogbe (nee Chukwuma) from Nachi in Udi Local Government Council of Enugu State; and the marriage is blessed with children.
