2023 Elections: List of Top 4 PDP Senators That May Emerge As Governors in Their Home States


Some serving Governors will finish their second terms in 2023. As a result, the race to replace these departing Governors has begun in earnest. There are a number of prominent PDP Senators to keep an eye on ahead of the upcoming election, particularly those who are likely to become State Governors in 2023. Notable among them are:


1. Ike Ekweremadu (Enugu State)


Senator Ike Ekweremadu, a fifth-term Senator representing Enugu West Constituency in the National Assembly, is at the forefront of the PDP Gubernatorial Aspirants in Enugu State for 2023. The lawyer-turned-politician has previously served as a Local Government Chairman, Chief of Staff to the Governor, and Secretary to the Enugu State Government before entering politics 24 years ago. Ekweremadu, who is 59 years old, is one of the leading candidates to succeed Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in 2023.

2. Abba Moro (Benue State)
Unlike Ekweremadu, Abba Moro, 64, is a first-term senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and a political protégé of former Senate President David Mark. The former Minister of the Interior is one of the few PDP leaders that could succeed Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom in 2023.

3. Gershom Bassey (Cross-River State)
Bassey, 58, is a former civil engineer who now represents the Cross-River South Senatorial District in the Senate. In 1998, the Calabar-born politician co-founded the PDP in Cross-River State with ex-governors Liyel Imoke and Donald Duke. Senator Gershom Bassey is a leading PDP candidate for governor in the state.

4. James Manager (Delta State)

Manager is a 61-year-old lawyer who has been active in politics since 1991. Manager is now a fifth-term Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District. He was the founding Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State. He is one of the top PDP Gladiators who could succeed Ifeanyi Okowa, the incumbent Governor of Delta State in 2023.

Enugu Community in crisis as Ministry of Local government Rural Development and chieftaincy Affairs issued certificates of Return/Recognition to Candidates without Elections. Nkpunato-Nkpologu Autonomous Community  in Uzo-uwani LGA is in crisis and in complete dilemma as the Ministry of Local government Rural Development and chieftaincy Affairs headed by Hon Deacon Okey Ogbodo arbitrarily recognized  Candidates without Elections.  News media agency confirmed this ugly incident on Monday through the outgoing President General, Chief Barr A.A Onyeji.
