FALSE NEWS: UNN STUDENT LEADER IMPEACHED OVER N3.2M FRAUD

Senate President of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (SUG UNN), Nnamani Ifeanyichukwu, has stated his own side of the story following his purported impeachment over alleged misappropriation of students union funds.

Speaking on Lion FM Nsukka yesterday , Nnamani said he was Purportedly impeached for declining to approve N65, 553,000.00 for the construction of 150 relaxation outdoor seats which Ani Stephen (SUG President UNN) and Ugwuja Obinna (SUG President UNEC) brought for him to sign without following due process thereby conspiring with the Deputy Senate President, Ogbuh Chinazam Ame to Impeach the Senate President.

He said he took the stand because there were more pressing demands such as renovation of toilets, leaking roofs and drainage and installation of solar panels to boost power supply in hostels.

I will continue to protect the welfare of Nigerian students and will never support impunity and corruption in the SUG even though my office is threatened,” he said, adding: “I refused to give my consent until due process is followed.”

He dared his accusers to produce a copy of alleged transactions showing he misappropriated N3, 238, 500. 00. He said he does not authorise withdrawal from the union’s account.

According to him, that is the purview of the financial secretary, thereby rendering the accusations false.

According to the University Administration there was no impeachment and Nnamani Ifeanyichukwu still remains the Senate President of the Union
