CELE OKANYA REJECTS CALLS TO RUN FOR SENATE USING ZONING ARRANGEMENTS.
The calls to end zoning was began in late 2019 by Cele Okanya. Then he was a lone voice. He was attacked, abused, and had his character assassinated by Political jobbers and he is still being attacked by government appointees up till this day.
He campaigned for the end of Ojebegocracy, a word he invented. He preached that we try competence and experience for better results. Following recent uproar about the comments of some political leaders in Enugu State at Nkanu, a group of Youth paid Cele a visit at his Abuja residence on April 22, 2021.
They pleaded with him to support calls for zoning arrangements since this will give Igboeze South a good chance to produce the Senator. They further asked him to consider running for Senate to represent Enugu North Senatorial District. The group maintain that it will be great change from status quo to have Celestine represent Enugu North in the Senate.
He thank them for the pain taken to visit him at Abuja noting the financial cost of the trip from different parts of Enugu. He however told the group that he cannot condemn zoning and at same time want take advantage of such failed principles. "What is bad is bad even if it favors me", he said.
He assured the group that he not yet interested in running for any office but however, still asking for guidance from God and family regarding his political future. "I will run for any political position God directs me to run for, without any regard for the purported zoning," he concluded. He promised to continue speaking for the ordinary man and women in Enugu whether running for a political office.
