YOU MAY TRY TO CHANGE THE STORY BUT YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE TRUTH:By Cele Okanya

YOU MAY TRY TO CHANGE THE STORY BUT YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE TRUTH.

WHAT WE DESERVE IS APOLOGIES FROM OUR LAW MAKERS AND THE GOVERNOR.

It is sad that the PRAISE SINGERS has started to praise the Governor for stepping down the insensitive bill for life pension for Governors and their Deputies.

What a shame! First and foremost it is another confirmation that these appointees think that their job is to praise the Governor even at a time public trust has been breached. Praising the Governor for stepping the bill down is an acceptance that he was responsible for the proposed bill at first instance even though it went in as a privately sponsored bill.

Who can praise a thief who attempted stealing but changed his or her mind because of the load cry the owners of the property? You cannot praise the thief for returning what he or she planned to steal but dropped it due to public outcry. The thief should be the one apologizing.

What my people deserve is a public apology from the House Speaker, The House Leader and all the members that voted to allow the bill to go through first reading.

What the people need is the public apology from the Governor to have given a nod for the bill to even go to the house. He can as well tell the people of Enugu State publicly that he was not consulted before the bill went to the House.

Withdrawal of the Bill does not get the sponsor off the hook. I hope and expect that the people of UDENU shall ensure that the House Members face the consequences of his actions in his future political aspirations. For the generality of Ndi-Enugu, we will keep this historic action in the microwave for him and his colleagues and serve the relevant actors this meal at the appropriate political dinner of the future.

I have made this statement over and over again. Let me say again, that there will no longer be a hidding place for those who take electorates for a ride. If you abuse the public trust, some of us are and will continue to be willing to use all resources within our disposal to ensure that you pay a huge political price.

Let me thank all those who raised the voice, joined the voice and even walked the streets and protested against this bill. TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE ENUGU BETTER.

Better Days Ahead

Cele Okanya.
