H.E Distinguished Sen Prof. Ike Ekweremmadu and his entourage storms Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, kick off his South Eastern Universities Tour.
The Former Deputy Senate President and Chairman, South East Caucus at the National Assembly, H.E Distinguished Sen Prof. Ike Ekweremmadu ealiar today paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Professor Charles Esimone, FAS.
Sen. Ekweremmadu disclosed that he was on a tour of tertiary institutions in the region to appraise the situation especially with the current challenges they are facing nationwide in a bid to finding possible ways to render assistance.He stated that UNIZIK is the first port of call of his visit.
"We are here to identify with the Vice-Chancellor and to encourage him on the path of excellence because education is one of the core values of the people of the South-East and we must not let our guards down.
For some of us, we wouldn't have been where we are today without education. This is why it is very important that we must encourage education pursuit, training and everything around it."- Ikeoha Ndi-Igbo
In his remark, the Vice-Chancellor expressed delight over the visit by the Senator and his entourage, describing it as a step in the right direction. While enumerating the challenges facing the University, Prof. Esimone expressed optimism that the visit would yield great benefit for the institution. He commended the Senator for the gesture while calling on his colleagues to toe this path in ensuring that tertiary institutions within the region are not neglected.
Ikeoha Ndi-Igbo and his entourage was welcome by Vice Chancellor, the former Dean, Students Affairs, Professor Stan Udedi and other top officials of the Institution.
