CALL FOR SENATOR ABARIBE'S ARREST BY AREWA YOUTHS CONSULTATIVE FORUM (AYCF).

The call for Senator Abaribe's arrest by the leadership of AYCF is not only highly divisive and provocative, but also informed by legal and moral ignorance.

According to the call, made available to reporters by Alhaji Yerima Shettima, AYCF leader, claimed that since Senator Ndume is being remanded in prison for his inability to provide Maina, same treatment should be immediately extended to Senator Abaribe because of Nnamdi Kanu's case.

We, the Igbo Youths want to categorically call the bluff of AYCF. Nigeria's judiciary should not be intimidated or pressured into serving 'emotional justice,' which will be no justice at all. Shettima and AYCF need to clearly understand that no two different cases should be treated in exactly the same manner because circumstances, evidence and technicalities must differ.

It is crystal clear that Maina, whom Sen. Ndume signed a surety for, jumped bail voluntarily and on purpose. But in the case of Nnamdi Kanu, the whole world witnessed how he was forced to run for his life. In Igbo adage, it is only the tree that will get the news that it will be cut down and still stayed put; humans will naturally and instinctively run away in the event of an approaching danger!

Given the peculiar circumstances that surrounds Nnamdi Kanu's disappearance, and his inability of appearing again ever since then, any objective observer won’t find it difficult to accept that Sen. Abaribe is completely free of any culpability. Morally, he’s fully covered. And MORAL LAW transcends all other human Laws. 
Anchoring our argument on the premise of UNIVERSAL MORAL LAWS, we, the entire Igbo Youths, call on our Northern counterparts to immediately desist from making such incongruous comparisons, and to also publicly retract the ones they have said already. Nigeria is already too charged up, and inflammatory statements like the ones accredited to AYCF should be discouraged and discountenanced at all costs. Divisive, petty, sentimental, and clannish inclinations and proclivities, is not the way to go now!
