X-RAYING GOVERNOR IFEANYI UGWUANY'S GAINT STRIDES AND MULTIDIMENSIONAL LEADERSHIP IN ENUGU STATE PART (1), AS WE APPROACH HIS 5TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY IN LION BUILDING.

Introduction:

As we wish Ndi-Enugu a Happy Democracy Day in advance come 29th day of this month of May year 2020, ISI-UZO PEOPLE'S ASSEMBLY may not necessarily need any further introduction but for emphasis, we are simply a pressure group that sincerely meant well in supporting our Government at all levels in Enugu State. Hence, from our coming into being, we hit the ground running by projecting the good works of our local government, the activities of our Federal Constituency representative, that of our Senatorial District leadership, and most importantly, to our dear State Government where our beloved Governor Rt Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi is poffering purposeful Leadership in multifaceted dimension.

Our mode of support has been, to identify and project the good works of Government through all our Media network platforms, both electronic, social, print, etc.

It is also important to note that while we defend the State Government from irrational criticisms of detractors who drives joy in casting aspersions on every good intentions of our Governor, we also advise Government and make suggestions where necessary because our Governor is a listening Governor and also a good team player.

Below are How The Eventful Administration of Governor Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi all Began:

GOVERNOR IFEANYI UGWUANYI KICK STARTED HIS GOVERNMENT BY HOSTING A TOWN HALL MEETING WITH CRITICAL ENUGU STAKEHOLDERS WITHIN 60 DAYS OF HIS INAUGURATION  AT OLD GOVERNOR'S LODGE GRA ENUGU.

After the inauguration of His Excellency our dynamic Governor on the 29th May 2015, he held an interactive Town Hall Meeting within two months of his inauguration. This very all important Town Hall Meeting putting the records straight, was first of it's kind in our history, being it when we were in the old Anambra State, or when Enugu became a State via her creation under General Babagida's military government. 

In the very Town Hall Meeting, the following class of Enugu State stakeholders were invited, they are; the Traditional rulers of four Hundred and Forty seven (447) autonomous communities in the State, the Town Union PGs of the above number of communities, all Church denominational heads (clergymen), all heads of vigilantees and Neighborhood watch security outfit from the seventeen local government areas of the State, Captains of industry resident in Enugu State, and all political office holders being it elective or appointee up to the Governor himself.

AGENDA:

The Agenda of the meeting was in four folds as follows;

1).Appreciation.

2).Message of Love, Peace and Unity.

3). Security. And

4). Suggestions on Urban Roads  that needs to be prioritized, and again, how best His Government can Address the Rural Urban Migration through Provision of Rural Infrastructure.

Agenda 1; Appreciation.

The governor opened his remarks observing all Protocols. He appreciated all that gathered, and indeed the entire good people of Enugu State for overwhelmingly voting him to serve the people. He continued by promising to return power to the people hence the Town Hall meeting on the day. He said that he will run an open door/all inclusive government. He said that his administration will not operate in proxy, but him and the people in charge!

 Agenda 2. Message of Love, Peace and Unity.

In his message of Love, Peace and Unity, he made it crystal clear that he is not voted into power as Governor to begin to hold political vendentta against perceived political enemies or the opposition in the State. He said that he is now, not only the Governor of PDP members,  but the Governor of all the members of all political parties in the State and indeed the entire good people of the State both those who are political and the apolitical. He promised fairness, equity and Justice to all indegenes and non indegenes alike in the State.

He enjoined all political office holders under him both elected and appointees to adopt his pattern of all inclusive leadership for Enugu State to move forward. He concluded by saying that if Enugu must move forward, that Love, Peace and Unity must be our collective watch words.

Agenda 3: Security.

The Security issue on the day was a contentious one as it centered on the manece of the Herdsmen. There was accusation and counter accusations between the PGs and their Igwes as to those whose fault resulted in some of the crises between the Herders and members of some communities in the State.

But at the end of the hot argument, the Governor in his usual characteristics of being a peace maker, pacified all contending parties, and gave some tips on how he intends to manage the Herdsmen's challenge which is not only peculiar to Enugu State. He advocated for peaceful co-existence and assured the people that he will be intermittently holding security meetings to address all contending issues where all concerned including the representatives of the herdsmen and that of the Community leadership will be involved.  He said that such constant dialogue will bring out the best ways of preventing such challenges, or in a worse case scenario, offer the best approach in managing challenges  where it ensued.

Agenda 4: 

Suggestions on Urban Roads in Enugu that needs to be Prioritized, and how best the State can Address the Rural Urban Migration through The Provision of Rural Infrastructure.

After very elaborate and reborst contributions from the people gathered, the following resolutions were agreed;

1), That the milky hill road to Ngwo from New market be constructed.

2). That Nike road from NOWAS be constructed.

3). That Abakpa Nike road be constructed.

4). That 9th mile road bypass to Onitsha be constructed. 

5). That Emene Ugwuomu, Amorji road bypass to Nike lake junction be constructed.

6). That all the dilapidated roads in GRA Enugu be constructed.

Other resolution reached was that because Nsukka is the second largest Urban City after Enugu Urban, that his Government should give Nsukka a serious face lift in proper road construction and reconstruction with good planning of drainages. This is because at the time, the level of roads infrastructure decay in Nsukka and threat of flood as result of such monumental decay was high. At the end, the General Assembly through the resolution of the Town Hall Meeting gave the Governor the mandate to address completely the road infrastructure decay in Nsukka.

Finally, the Governor was also giving the go ahead to give rural road infrastructure attention.

The idea is to help our rural dwellers have access to their farms, so that during their farm harvest, they will have roads that will enable them evacuate their farm produce and take same to market. The idea among other things is to encourage mass food production in the State as we have mass arable lands in our various communities.

It was also generally agreed that construction of rural roads will checkmate the Exodus of our teaming youths who in their hundreds and thousands are daily migrating to Enugu Urban to seek greener pastures, when they should be encouraged to stay back and engage in a mechanised, and commercial Agriculture which is key in stumlating the rural/State economy.

At the end, vote of thanks were given, item 7 was served, transport fare was given, a closing prayer was said and the people despatched.

In the second part of this episode, we shall discuss   how many of all the above resolutions reached has been implemented.

 We shall also discuss the unprecedented peace building mechanism which has guaranteed peace and progress in Enugu State.
