More testimonies and evidence regarding the alleged Police Office Dumiri 's unlawful activities in Obollo-Afor.
According to Chukwudi Ukwueze he highlighted that he doesn't know if Dumiri is his real name, but his notoriety for deploying brutal force in carrying out his often illegal crackdown on young people is well known all over Obollo and indeed Udenu. And I say this with all sense of seriousness. From Obollo Eke, Obollo Afor, Obollo Etiti down to Ogbodu Aba, Dumiri terrorises young people for offences that are outside his jurisdiction as a police officer.
Chukwudi Ukwueze went further to say that Dumiri arrests young people and lock them up for simply having a lighter or even a sheet of rizzler in their pockets and that his modus operandi is to invade, raid, capture, torture, lock up, and collect bail money from young people just for sitting out at public bar. He has been doing this for years with reckless abandon. He went further to say that if this allegations that he is indirectly or directly responsible for the death of Mr John Nnaemeka, the patent drug seller, is found to be true, then he has met his nemesis.
Obollo people must not let this slide. Enough is enough. Dumiri must be petitioned and made to face the law.
Having said that, all of these abuses of power by police officers like Dumiri, one could say stems from the fact that majority of are people are largely ignorant of their rights. For instance, In various informal conversation with folks, I have heard them arrogate some powers to police officers. Police officers equally cash in on this ignorance loop to exploit our people.
While I believe that infrastructure needs to be developed, mind-structure should be given priority.
We must declare a state of emergency on quality education and reorientation of our people. We must enlighten our people about their rights. Do not be deceived, majority of our brothers and sisters in Udenu are largely either mal-educated, miseducated or undereducated and it should be a source of serious concern for us as a people.
We must let our people know that a police man coming to search your shop or home without a search warrant is essentially breaking the law and should be treated with skepticism.
We don see shege taya... Make we take action NOW.
