*Enugu 2023: Nsukka Youth Congress (NYC) Describe Senator Ike Ekweremadu As A Modern-Day High Renaissance man of Broad Talents And Expertise*

Renaissance man, also called Universal Man, Italian Uomo Universale, an ideal that developed in Renaissance Italy from the notion expressed by one of its most-accomplished representatives, Leon Battista Alberti that “a man can do all things if he will.” The ideal embodied the basic tenets of Renaissance humanism, which considered man the center of the universe, limitless in his capacities for development, and led to the notion that men should try to embrace all knowledge and develop their own capacities as fully as possible and use it maximally to improve humanity, especially when strength of knowledge and agility counts. For Enugu 2023, Senator Ike Ekweremadu is THE NEEDED HAND.   

The above statement is contained in a release made available to the press by Dr. Ugona C. Akah, the President General of Nsukka Youth Congress (NYC), a socio-political organization with its members drown from all the communities in the six local governments areas in Nsukka (Enugu North), mainly made up of young professionals and technocrats who are highly successful or i will say blessed in their chosen careers.   

Dr. Akah who is an associate professor of Heat Transfer and Thermodynamics stated this after the first meeting of the Youth Congress held inside the University of Nigeria Nsukka. He said that the organization will always stand for justice and for the development of Nsukka and Enugu at large and queried the sensibilities of anyone who thinks the so-called zoning should be maintained, especially some government officials who in this 21st century world are still dragging us back to the dark age. In his words "who did this to us that we will continue to crawl while others are running. Can you look at the direction the world is going, can you also see high level of transformations and changes going to on across the globe, and someone or some few individuals in government circle continues to promote sentiment and drag millions of Enugu people back to 60s and 90s, No, it will not continue to happen because we are now well informed and enlightened to separate the grain from the charf even when they look alike. 

The Bureau Chief of the youth congress,  Dr. Obinna Odo who is a medical doctor with one of the private Hospitals in the state said, "any time we move from electing our leaders based on 'turn-by-turn to electing our leaders based on antecedents, competence and experience, that will mark the beginning of our civilization and advancement as a people and that time is now. We must now begin to support excellence and encourage a level playing field for all to compete while expecting the best to emerge at the end, not the worst. The group admonishes the governor's tolerance but inisited this is the time to think outside the box for the good of all and for the development of Enugu State. 

The Public Relation officer of the respected body, Mazi Clinton Ibeabuchi who works for one of the international media companies based in the Middle East, said, even though he is not a politician and never met him (Ekweremadu) but have covered the activities of Nigeria politician for for more than 15 years, he sees him as our modern day Renaissance Man. In his words  "a Renaissance man is not a jack of all trades who seems able to tackle any task, from grilling a perfect steak to swapping out a light fixture to changing the oil to building a piece of furniture. Neither is a Renaissance man one who seems to have an encyclopedic knowledge of all subjects. That we can term a polymath or, in the pejorative, a know-it-all." He said that a Renaissance man is a person with genuine competence in and understanding of multiple different fields, all of which complement one another to make him a more talented and productive being. With a beaming smile and sense of assurance, he said, "Ekweremadu will make the best governor Nigeria ever produced, mark my word, immediately he signaled his driver to zoom off. 

Also speaking, a female member  who is also the project director of the congress, Ada Abugu, pointed out that it was a huge embarrassment for the entire Nsukka race to hear of the news of banishment and ostracizing even as she said that Nsukka supposed to be a shining light for others, and therefore condemn in totality such unacceptable and archaic thinking against a political opponents especially when it is coming from people who should know better and remember this is the hometown of the governor of Enugu state. Ada who is a software engineer  and also a member of Rotary Club,  reiterated the resolve of the youth congress to use their resources and contacts maximally to make sure the right candidate irrespective of zone is elected as the governor of Enugu. 

From findings so far, realities on ground shows that the odd favor senator Ekweremadu mainly because of his track record of many development projects he attracted even outside his senatorial jurisdiction, while many are counting on his experience and innovative mindset, having traveled wide and handled both sensitive and complex issues with outstanding results, the majority of electorates in Enugu state believes that Senator Ekweremadu will not only do better than any other candidate aspiring for the seat come 2023, he stand a better chances with big margin and most equipped for the job ahead, she said.
