Ahead of 2023: Enugu North Senatorial Progressives Support Enugu West for 2023'.
Recently, the Stakeholders of Enugu West Senatorial District of Enugu State after their expanded Stakeholders meeting issued communique rejecting the zoning of Governorship position to Enugu East. In the communique signed by notable Stakeholders from Enugu West Senatorial District, they insisted that for the sake of equity and fairness, Enugu West Senatorial District should be given a chance to produce the next Governor of Enugu State come 2023. The stakeholders noted with regret that Enugu West Senatorial Zone of Enugu State has not been fairly treated on the issue of the position of the Governorship seat of the State.
Enugu West Senatorial District Stakeholders Communique seems to gather momentum as the Enugu North Senatorial District Progressives issued their Communique Supporting Enugu West Senatorial District to produce next Governor come 2023, urge other zones to give Enugu West their support for the sake of equity and fairness.
The communique reads as follows:
The Enugu North Senatorial District Progressives resolved that for equity, fairness, justice, good conscience and peace to prevail, common sense dictates that the people of Enugu West Senatorial Zone should be encouraged and supported to by the other to zones to have a second chance/shot at the Enugu State Governorship seat in 2023 general election.
The meeting also reviewed the present six ( 6 ) years PDP administration in the state under the leadership of HE Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi ( Gburu Gburu ) Governor Enugu State and gave the Governor a pass mark, especially on the maintenance of peace, law and order in the state. The Stakeholders commended the Governor on his peaceful approach to governance and urge him to continue do his best for the good people of Enugu State.
They stated that by stroke of chance and not under any predetermined zoning or rotation arrangement, that out of the three ( 3 ) Senatorial Zones in the state, it's only Enugu West Senatorial Zone that has produced the Governor of the state once since the return of democratic rule in Nigeria, from 1979 second Republic till date. The movement further stated that the office of the Governor has been held three ( 3 ) times by the Enugu East Senatorial Zone, 1979, 1983 and 1999-2007. While Enugu North Senatorial Zone is holding it for the second time - 1991-1993 and 2015 to date and hopefully ending in 2023 May 29th.
The meeting comprehensively reviewed the recent communique released by the expanded Stakeholders meeting of Enugu West Senatorial Zone / District on the issue of the alleged zoning, rotation and power shift of the office of the Governor amongst the three ( 3 ) Senatorial Zones and totally agree with their position that there was nothing like power rotation or zoning in position of Governorship of the state at any point in time.
Enugu North Senatorial District Progressives hereby Reject Zoning, appeal, plead with the good people of Enugu East Senatorial Zone to kindly drop their 4th time agenda on Governorship of Enugu State and support the position of Enugu North Senatorial Zone to allow Enugu West Senatorial Zone to produce the next Governor in 2023 for the sake of power balance, peace and tranquility in the State.
