OPEN LETTER TO THE ENUGU STATE PDP EXECUTIVE AND STAKEHOLDERS.
Greetings to whom it is concerned. This letter might not have come at the appropriate time than now as my contribution to the success and growth of our party.
In recent times in our state, an issue has seemed to emerge about the 2023 general election concerning where the next governorship of our party flag bearer should come from.
Some have it that the PDP has a zoning formula in the state even without stating *WHERE, WHEN* and *HOW* it was discussed, coupled with not being able to provide an answer to many questions on this issue which are not limited to:
1. Was the zoning in place before the creation of Enugu State in 1991 or after?
2. Was it before the emergence of Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani or after?
3. Does Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani become the governor before the PDP had their state constitution or after?
Going through these three (3) key questions will help us all to know the truth but that is not my aim in this letter.
This, I am writing to inform all on the danger that will happen to the party of going to lose Enugu state if eventually, we fail not to adhere to the clamoring of the State masses on the person that they want and again to the 2016 Gov Ugwuanyi's promise.
In everywhere in the state, while some are still talking about the said zoning, the masses have massively picked up a candidate that they want him to govern them come 2023, in the person of Sen Ike Ekweremadu, whose name now echoes at all the nooks and crannies of the state and to the glory of God, he's a strong PDP stakeholder, who has held the party and so much sacrifice for it during the party's trying times in the state that its former leaders left.
This decision by the masses to identify with our party should not be taken for granted knowing full well that they are other political parties in the state that they can easily identify with if the party fails to represent their wishes.
On this, I want the party to unanimously do the needful when the right time comes, as we can't afford to lose the state at this time. And I also seek the sanction of any member that will go against it because they don't have the party at heart hence their reason of wanting to go against the masses wish and look for an unpopular candidate that will fail the party in their said lie of justifying the unjustified zoning, whereas, if our state has:
1. Witnessed the Bayelsa case of event that saw the then deputy governor Dr. Good luck Jonathan came into power.
2. The president Ya'adua case that saw his deputy Dr. Good luck Jonathan came into power.
3. The IMO state resent case that saw a fourth position candidate becoming the governor.
4. The Anambra Uba's family case where Hon Ifeanyi Uba won with the YPP party
And so on, I believe that by now, the issue of the said unjustified zoning wouldn't have been a center of concern for the success of our party in the state.
Going further, as our party Constitution demand, the leader of our party, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in April 2016, at the ISU-AWAA, during the burial ceremony of Pa Chinyereze 1, the father of Sir Emperor Baywood Ibe, made a promise of handing over to someone from Awgu after his tenure, thanking them for their 100% support to him in his 2015 victory.
This promise he made in the presence of many dignitaries including an ordained man of God His lordship Very Rev Okoh, and as a leader who puts our state in the hands of God, he will not going to go against the promise he made in the front of a man of God as his promised area (Awgu Council -Awgu, Aninri and Oji-River), of handing over has now coincidentally be the area that the state masses has found their next to be worthy governor under his party.
This I am sure have saved the governor of fear to have a wonderful successful successor like witnessed in:
1. Ebonyi state during the time of Gov Sam Egwu.
2. In IMO state during the time of Gov Rochas Okoroacha.
And so on.
The revelation is now clear and I want the party to all key behind the people's choice as we quietly approach the electioneering year.
This we can achieve in peace and unity for the betterment and victory of our party come 2023. All members should close their ranks and come together.
