POLICE TOLL GATES

An okada ride from Odenigbo roundabout Nsukka to Nkwo Ibagwa(Ibagwa market) costs #200. Before you get to Nkwo Ibagwa, you will meet two police posts that will collect #100 naira each. One before Obukpa junction and the other at Elu Agu Obukpa, close to a church. On Nkwo day, the police posts may reach up-to 4 because there will be more customers. Orie Orba, Afor-Opi, Eke Enugu Ezike, etc have worse scenarios. This is the plight of motorists as they most times submit ALL their profits or 70% of their profits to the "Police Toll gates". As this is happening, armed robbers are assured of robbing around these areas UNDISTURBED in day light. The political and religious leaders in these areas do not care because the toll gates are meant for those struggling to feed their families and not for those either looting our treasury or feeding fat on tithes and offerings, and as such, the toll gates police men greet them with "SURE SIR!" each time they pass. Before you accuse Hausas, most of these Toll Gates police men are Igbos, one of them is Ayogu Eze, who coincidentally is from the same local government where he operates. Those who will try to catch me for this post, please service your cars well and wait for the heart of dry season before you come because the road leading to where I live is a death trap. Nkpunato-Nkpologu Autonomous Community  in Uzo-uwani LGA is in crisis and in complete dilemma as the Ministry of Local government Rural Development and chieftaincy Affairs headed by Hon Deacon Okey Ogbodo arbitrarily recognized  Candidates without Elections.  News media agency confirmed this ugly incident on Monday through the outgoing President General, Chief Barr A.A Onyeji.
