Without the nutrients that the body receives from the food we eat, it cannot perform necessary functions. That much we know about food. Food is an essential requirement for the growth and maintenance of the human body. If the world seems to be obsessed with the idea of food security this is the reason. Man does not live on bread alone, but by the same token, man cannot survive without bread.  Unfortunately, when it comes to the question of feeding the soul, that simple recognition is too often absent. The problem today is not that people do not feed their bodies but that they do not feed their souls. They are not bothered that they do not receive holy communion. 21 YEARS OF THE 1999 CONSTITUTION: THE SUCCESSFUL AMENDMENTS AND FAILED ATTEMPTS BY UCHE ANICHUKWU Constitution amendment in a multi-ethnic society like ours does not come easy, hence efforts to amend the 1999 Constitution suffered serial failure until Senator Ike Ekweremadu emerged in 2007 as the Deputy President of the 6th Senate and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Constitution Review. Below is a highlight of Constitution amendment efforts piloted by Senator Ike Ekweremadu. A. SUCCESSFUL AMENDMENTS (AMENDMENTS PASSED BY THE NASS, APPROVED BY TWO-THIRDS OR AT LEAST 24 STATE ASSEMBLIES, AND SIGNED BY THE PRESIDENT): 1. Amendments to Sections 145 and 190 of the Constitution to compel the President/Governor to transmit a letter to the National Assembly/State Assembly to enable their deputies act whenever they are to proceed on vacation or unable to discharge their functions. Nwoye lauds Ekweremadu’s achievements Published- The Sun Newspaper Date- 8th January,2020 Enugu Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Dr. Ben Nwoye, has lauded Ike Ekweremadu, Former Deputy Senate President, for the developmental projects attracted to his constituency. Nwoye stated this, at Amuri in Nkanu West Local Government Area, when Sen. Ike Ekweremadu was conferred with “Dike Eji Ejemba of Amuri Kingdom” title by HRH Charles Nwoye. He said although they were of different political parties, it was important for politicians to emulate Ekweremadu’s strides as a politician.
